TL;DR: If you've *ever* considered reading this book... just do it!

This book was even better the second time around! I first read Evelyn Hugo last year, but one of my book clubs had selected it for this month so I decided to give the audiobook a try. IT WAS WORTH IT! With different narrators for Monique, young Evelyn, and elder Evelyn, the audiobook gave the story even more dimension.

Ever since my first read, this became one of my favorite books - one I will recommend time and time again. There are so many things to love: the old Hollywood setting, the characters, the glamour, the drama, the heartbreak. UGH it's simply spectacular! It is one of the most beautiful, gut-wrenching, love stories I've read. Evelyn is a force to be reckoned with and I adore her - flaws and all! I admire how she used what she had to get where she wanted and how she would do absolutely anything to protect those she loved.

Having known the ending this time around did not save me from being reduced to a puddle to tears. That last line will never not be a knife to the heart.
