I received this book as a "blind date" recommendation from Julia of Entirely Bonkerz, so I had no idea what I was getting myself into. IT. DID. NOT. DISAPPOINT.

I finished the book in the early hours of the morning and was immediately pissed it was over. I've been getting further out of my reading comfort zone this year, but this was truly unlike anything I've picked up thus far and I simply couldn't get enough. If you had told me a year ago that I'd be obsessed with a dark gothic academia romance with a list of trigger warnings (murder, suicide, mental health issues, human sacrifice, sexual assault to name a few), I would have laughed, but here we are! The mix of romance and mystery had me tearing through this book. RuNyx's writing style is spellbinding. You can so clearly picture every scene and the dialogue is like a knife to the heart.

"This will last until the day roses on my grave stop sharing roots with the roses on yours... I am your madness. And you, you're my afterlife."

I MEAN *SWOON*!

Not to mention the inclusion of incredible poetry at the start of each chapter and nods to Edgar Allen Poe throughout were glorious!

I, for one, cannot wait to return to Verenmore with RuNyx's next book, Arakana, releasing in just a few days!!
